Job Summary:
This position performs both customer service and administrative duties for the Sheriff’s Office. Acts as the main point of contact for the Sheriff’s Office and assists customers and visitors with their needs. Enters data, citations, reports and invoices into various systems.
Starting Wage: $19.98 per hour, full-time position

Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assists all visitors to the Sheriff’s Office including the general public, attorneys, and case workers by answering inquiries or directing them to their proper source. Maintains records of all visitors and notifies staff of arrivals for appointments, interviews, and meetings.
- Answers telephone requests for information and responds to inquiries from the public related to incident reports, answers routine inquiries, takes messages for staff, and routes other calls to the appropriate person.
- Manages and maintains the LiveScan system for fingerprinting by collecting all forms by individuals, user setup, logs, and receiving responses and results for fingerprint scans taken.
- Enters citations into the New World Systems Records Management system. Prepares copies for the Court with a driver’s status and history which is obtained from the Law Enforcement Information Network. Serves as the liaison between the Sheriff’s Office and Court if there are any questions on a specific citation.
- Enters a variety of reports into the New World Systems Records Management system including crash reports, lab result reports, post-mortem exam reports, Noelle orders from the Court, and case dispositions.
- Receives civil process paperwork from the public requesting legal papers to be served to individual inmates at the Allegan County Jail.
- Processes, receives, and issues receipts in regards to payments from the county finance system. This could include payments for fingerprinting services, licenses to purchases handguns, and Freedom of Information Act requests.
- Transcribes incident audio reports provided for the Correctional Facility. Enters the narrative into the correct incident in the New World Systems Records Management system.
- Receives case information sheets and information hearing notifications from the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office and gathers the appropriate paperwork (report and/or ticket) for each and provides to the corresponding deputy.
- Sorts all incoming and outgoing mail for the Sheriff’s Office including the Administration area, Law Enforcement, and Corrections.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent (G.E.D.)
- Two (2) years of secretarial and/or clerical experience in a law enforcement office setting.
- Possession of a valid Michigan Driver's License
