Director of Legal Assistance Center Operations -Part Time

Hours: Part Time, 30 - 37 hours per week Wages: $24 - $28 per hour - depending on previous related experience
Key Position Responsibilities: 1. With the support of staff, interns and volunteers, assumes overall responsibility for assisting patrons. Ensures patrons have the necessary processes and paperwork to to advocate for themselves in civil legal matters. 2. Ensures the center is staffed to effectively meet the needs of patrons. a. Works with the HR Committee to plan for and recruit new staff, interns and volunteers to ensure staffing is sufficient to meet the needs of patrons b. Works to provide adequate staff coverage through each week and issue a weekly schedule to all staff and interns/volunteers c. Conducts 90-day performance evaluations for new hires and annual performance evaluations for all staff 3. Trains new hires, interns and volunteers using documented Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s), presentations, videos, guest speakers, standard form review/role play, hands on experience and continuous coaching a. Maintains and regularly updates training records for each staff member, intern and volunteer 4. Supervises and assigns duties to patron assistants, interns and volunteers 5. Coordinates with other key personnel in the courthouse to ensure ACLAC is working effectively with all appropriate departments 6. Maintains and updates the Google Sheets tracking tool and ensure entries are thorough, accurate and complete 7. Prepares statistics reports and updates for the Board monthly or as required 8. Keeps the HR Committee updated and participates in regular HR Committee meetings 9. Works effectively with the Director - ACLAC Fundraising and Finance to provide input to fundraising and finance functions e.g. budgeting, SCAO project 10. Acts as liaison with Allegan County Courthouse Security team 11. Other duties as assigned by the board or various subcommittees
Qualifications:
High school diploma required
Experience in the legal field required
Formal degree / diploma / certification in a legal discipline (e.g. Law, Paralegal, Criminal Justice) preferred
Excellent interpersonal communication skills
Detail oriented, ability to work independently with little supervision
